Week three drawings

ELEVATION

SECTION
(Terrible watercolour. Trying to give a sense of the surrounding area. It started off good, but I got carried away).
PLAN
Here I am trying to give the feeling of an abandoned building. Cold, gloomy and dusty is what I was going for.
SECTION
Similar to the other drawings, here I was trying to give a sense of both the surrounding environment and the inside of the shed.

Future sketches (not mine)

I like the style of these future sketches. I think something like this in the background would add to the idea of the old shed in the future.

Idea Drawings

Research - The effects of time on a space

Investigating the effects that time has on a space when left without human intervention.

Meeting of Past and Future - Office / Workspace

Instead of using the office idea as a meeting space, I have chosen to make the meeting between past and future. How would the boat shed look if it had been abandoned and left alone for 30 years for example. In the past the space still would've been an office or something similar, but this isn't the focus. So ill probably put a few desks and a bookcase in there. In my drawings I want to convey the feeling/atmosphere of a dark, dusty, derelict space.

Week Two - Deliverables

I dont like the idea of bar tables in this space. I think that couches and more laid back seating would be more appropriate.

Plan View - Bar inside boat sheds (rough)

There are way too many tables in this. In reality I would only be able to fit 2 or 3 inside.

Week 2 - Experiments with Sketch Up

Relearning how to use Sketch Up. I learnt to use it in high school but have forgotten a few things over the past few years. This is mainly just playing around in Sketch Up to make a basic design of my idea to create a bar in the space.

Meeting Space - Bar - Research (Unfinished)

Here are some examples of small home bars. I like the rustic sort of style with the wood textures and colours. Using wood would give the space a warm, casual and genuine atmosphere, something that more modern bars don't offer. Giving the space a weathered feel would reflect the bars location and add to the casual and genuine atmosphere of the place, saying we don't care about making this place look like a modern nightclub, we just want to provide you with some good brews and a relaxed place to meet your friends. I think most of the examples below would fit perfectly into the boat shed environment as wood is a classic nautical material. If wood was to be used it would need to be treated to withstand the conditions of the area (seaside, water, wind and salt etc)  This idea could also take up several sheds ( 2 or 3). To build on the idea of an honest bar, a beer could be brewed on site, adding to the atmosphere with the scent of brewing beer.

The bar below looks like the side of an old boat. I'm going to keep this idea in mind for the boat shed to help relate my space back to its environment.
